Best Buy's Computer 'Optimization' officially a Scam
- 1-4-2010
- Categorized in: Computers & Networking
Best Buy's PC optimization service costs $40 and guarantees to double the speed of your personal computer. They push it hard, so hard that you are regularly compelled to get it against your wishes.
The trouble? It does not make a difference on computer performance. If you have ever purchased a PC from Best Buy, you have doubtlessly been pitched an optimization. And you could have even been made to get a model already "optimized" against your wishes, as they have a practice of opening up a large share of PCs, performing the service, then sealing them back up. Wish to buy this publicized laptop? Oops, only pre-optimized models are left! That'll be $40 over the publicized price, please.
What precisely are they doing to these PCs to deserve a $40, then?

What does this say about the rest of their computer services? Don't take our word for it, read the full article at Consumerist.com here.
Things like this make the legitimate computer service company's look bad. We never sell or recommend services to our clients if it does not make sense just to pad our bottom line, ever.
